EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

At ScuttleBugs, our kids also have a wide range of Extracurricular - and very popular - activities to choose from.

The tuition fees for extracurricular activities are paid directly to the outside organization and not to ScuttleBugs.

Each session has a start date and an end date but children can join at any time during the session (or term) with fees pro-rated based on the date they start.

Music Class

Every Friday morning, children at ScuttleBugs enjoy interactive music classes with Golden Acorn Music, a partner we’ve proudly collaborated with since well before COVID. Each age group gets their own engaging 20-minute session, filled with singing and the exploration of musical concepts like rhythm, beats, and melody. ScuttleBugs teachers join in too, supporting the children and making music a shared classroom experience.

There is no additional cost to families for this enrichment—it’s included in your tuition.

Music in early childhood has been shown to accelerate brain development in areas such as language acquisition and reading skills, while also nurturing creativity, social growth, and self-expression. These are just some of the reasons why we agree music should be an essential part of the curriculum for children today.

Summer Program

Summer Program at ScuttleBugs San Jose is an additional set of fun activities offered to the enrolled families. No specific enrollment or request process is required to join, the only requirement is to be enrolled with ScuttleBugs.

It runs each year from mid-June through mid-August, bringing 10 weeks of extra joy, laughter, and exploration.

While we continue to weave in our regular developmental projects to keep young minds sharp, summer is also the time when the schedule shifts into a lighter rhythm — a perfect balance of fun and learning between graduation and the start of the new school year.

Children enjoy favorite activities like water play days, themed dress-up events, and outdoor adventures, along with special guests that make every summer unforgettable: from an enchanting magic show to colorful parrot and clown performances, and dazzling bubble parties that fill the playground with giggles.

Beyond the fun, our summer programplays an important role in children’s growth. Experiences like petting zoos, puppet shows, safari hunts, and hands-on science experiments are more than entertainment — they nurture curiosity, social skills, problem-solving, and creativity in a playful, relaxed setting. With special treats, interactive activities, and community events, children stay engaged while enjoying the joy and freedom of summer

Families can expect only a small additional fee (about $100 in total) to cover the entire season of extras — an incredible value for weeks filled with lasting memories, new skills, and plenty of smiles.

Tuff Tumblers (Paused due to COVID)

Tuff Tumblersis a non-competitive gymnastics and sports program fostering teamwork and improving motor skills, balance, coordination and self-confidence. Children are introduced to gymnastics and sports skills such as cartwheels, handstands, somersaults, soccer, basketball, baseball, football, golf, relay races and obstacle courses.  Each session lasts 8 weeks, but kids can join at any time. Each lesson focuses on a specific skill and includes warm-ups, tumbling, games and exercises. At ScuttleBugs each  Wednesday (Tumbling) and Friday (Soccer).

We believe a healthy attitude and love for sports starts from experiencing that enjoyment, freedom and just feel-good of running around and being active. It’s part of the reason we have our large, safe and enclosed outdoor playground: To help launch our kids on a healthy, long, lifetime of activity.
