Ask Ms. Nichol why she works with children and she’ll tell you about the light bulb. The exact moment a child figures something out — face changing, eyes wide — in eight years of early childhood education, working with children from 3 months to 5 years old, that moment has never gotten old.
Her philosophy is simple: she’s not here to have all the answers, only to plant the seed. When a teaching moment arrives, you’ll find her at eye level with the child — listening actively, speaking calmly, connecting with what they’re feeling — and finishing every conversation with a big High 5. She keeps families closely in the loop, because they know their child better than anyone. Ms. Nichol is currently completing her Child Development Teacher certificate and AA in Child Development at De Anza College.
Off the clock, she is on a boat whenever possible — lake days with her husband and son, drag boat races, camping. At home she is outvoted by two cats (Nova and Mittens) and a pitbull/rottweiler mix named Holley. She reads voraciously, runs on coffee around the clock, and owns more highlighters, pens, and notebooks than any reasonable person could justify.
