Family Relationships

Ms. EmmaUncategorized

I’ve been a teacher for a little over 2 years now and I have learned SO MUCH.

I have my favorite things about being a teacher and many favorite moments, but I think my most treasured thing is forming bonds with children as well as their parents. It is one of the warmest feelings to me knowing you have a closeness to a child and knowing their parents really trust you. In my opinion, the best way to form a relationship with parents is by first forming a bond with their child. Once a parent sees how much their child trusts and adores you it opens the door to a great relationship with them. And this makes it easier to communicate with a family in a warm and comfortable way.

At my previous center I was constantly praised for my relationships with families both in and out of my class,  I still talk to several of those parents from my old center!

Something I love to do for all the parents, when they pick up their kids, is tell them something fun or cool their child did that day. Parents LOVE hearing about their child having a good time at school. It’s so cool seeing their faces light up when they hear that their child had a good day and is doing well while they were away from their parents. I’m not a parent myself, but I can imagine it’s hard leaving your child, who means the world to you, all day long. Which is why I think it’s so important that a family knows they can trust you to take amazing care of their child while they’re not with them!
