Robert Lynch, Operations DirectorCurriculum

In addition to the regular Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum, ScuttleBugs offers numerous extracurricular activities that take place each week in the gym. Sign up sheets are on our bulletin board in the front lobby. It is important to remember that tuition fees for extracurricular activities are paid directly to the outside organization and not to ScuttleBugs.

It is so difficult to keep a tidy home, especially with children. The whole house becomes dedicated to children’s items and as they grow, the things they need piles up. However, don’t lose hope, because a tidier home is possible!..

Are plastics with BPA poisoning our children?

geoffUncategorized

I started writing this article with a view of getting a better understanding of BPA, and finding what (as a parent) I should be doing to minimize exposure. Which of course we do year-round. Our first line of defense is one of the simplest, most effective, measures to prevent the spread of contagious bacteria/viruses: good old hand washing! Rest assured, we go through disposable gloves by the truck load – cleaning, diapering, food service, nose wiping – you name it!

Scaffolding in ECE

Robert Lynch, Operations DirectorCurriculum

A well-known concept in Early Childhood Education called the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) is defined as the difference between what a young learner can do on their own without any assistance versus what they cannot do on their own and require the assistance of an adult (parent or teacher). Essentially, this “zone” is the gap between what a child knows and what he/she does not yet know. …
