We are now half way through the second year of our unique ScuttleBugs CDC 529 College Fund program. There are now twice the number of Kids enrolled in our program that we had last year.
With the world of education, and especially early childhood education, constantly adopting to the changing times, it is sometimes hard to keep up with what is really going on. Are some trends temporary or are they long lasting? Here are a number of trends that are certain to stick around for a very long time. They are defining the future direction of ECE.
So, will the children of these practical, efficiency-360° driven people follow generational precedent and instinct to oppose and instead become carefree and idealistic, singing in the rain and putting flowers in their hair? Or, having been Instagram stars at the age of 6 months without knowing it, will they reconsider Privacy and Big Data use and switch from everything being Open to Public to the opposite?
Since parenthood began my TO-DO list has never been fully accomplished. Far too often I feel like there is NEVER enough time and too many things to do. Especially during the week. Not everyone can afford hiring a nanny or chef (including myself). So what I’ve chosen to do is find quick, simple and healthy dinners.

In recent years high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) has evolved to become the pariah of the food industry, with bloggers and self-proclaimed food gurus touting its cause of everything from obesity, disease and body-wide inflammation to insulin intolerance, diabetes and death. But, just how true are these claims, and is there any evidence available to support them?
At ScuttleBugs we are firm believers and strongly advocate the importance of children learning through play. Being Reggio inspired this is facilitated via topics garnered from the children themselves, which results in our kiddo’s being able to relate to the subject matter and acquiring a myriad of skills without even realizing it! We incorporate the following activities daily to encourage proficiency of cognitive, fine and gross motor, literacy (namely vocabulary), basic math concepts and social skills.
Ayzha joined our team of wonderful teachers last year. She loves working with children but in her off-duty time she does something completely different: Powerlifting! Not, as she points out, weightlifting which is two lifts (Snatch and Clean & Jerk) as practiced in the Olympics. Powerlifting combines three disciplines (Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift).
